Camp Counselors and the CIT Program



What training is required of counselors and CITs in preparation for the camp?

All prospective counselors and CITs are expected to attend our weekend workshop from March 27-29. It will take place at Wynnview in Randolph, Vermont.

In addition, all accepted counselors will be expected to attend the Counselor/Staff training session right before the camp begins, from June 18-20.

Will there be monthly meetings at the Chestnut Hill center for counselors?

This year, there will not be monthly Sebago meetings at the Chestnut Hill Center. Counselors are encouraged to take part in other activities at Chestnut Hill, such as the Edge Program.

Who is eligible to be a Counselor-in-Training (CIT)?

High school boys entering grade 9 in the Fall of 2020 are eligible to apply to be CITs.

NOTE: CITs participate in the workshop in VT, but do not attend the camp. Instead, they will attend a special 4 night trip to visit Revolutionary War battlefields. See the CIT registration page for details.

Who is eligible to be a counselor?

High school boys entering grades 10, 11, or 12 in the fall of 2020 and young men through college age are eligible to apply to be counselors. Please call JP Lechner at 202-733-0771 for further information.

What are the 2020 camp dates?

The camp will run from Sunday, June 21 through Saturday, June 27, 2020.

Where will the camp be held?

The camp will take place at St. Joseph's College in Maine, 278 Whites Bridge Road, Standish, ME 04084.

What is the application procedure for counselors?

Interested applicants should complete the application form found here. The deadline for counselor applications is Friday, March 13th, 2020. Counselor interviews will be conducted the following day, March 14th. Applicants are then expected to attend the workshop at Wynnview in March. In early April, acceptance and waitlist decisions for counselors will be sent out.
